Streaks

Your streak counts the periods in a row with at least one Open Source Contribution.

Weekly or dailyCopy Anchor Link

Choose in Settings, under Streaks:

Weekly is the default because open-source work is uneven: you wait for reviews, maintainers take time to answer. Daily suits people who want a stronger habit.

Both streaks are always computed, so switching takes effect right away.

How it's countedCopy Anchor Link

• The current week or day isn't counted as broken until it's over: if your last contribution was last week, your weekly streak is still going until Saturday night.
• Your longest streak is kept, even when the current one ends.
• Days follow GitHub's graph: see Which day a contribution counts for.

Turn on Streak reminders in Settings under Motivation emails to get an email when your streak needs a contribution:

• Weekly streaks: on Friday evening, when the week has none yet.
• Daily streaks: in the evening, when the day has none yet.

Evenings are between 6 and 10 p.m. in your time zone. You only get a reminder when you have a streak to keep, at most once per week or day, and only after a fresh refresh of your contributions, so you aren't reminded about something you've already done.
